This is really beautifully done. I'm sorry to hear that he died, but I'm sure this is a fond way to reflect upon him, reflecting upon literature while he was around. 
Excellent proportions, sense of realism, and clarity of linework. The attention to detail in all the wrinkles and folds throughout gives him a great sense of depth without clouding the piece with extra lines that distract rather than emphasize. o.O...I hope that made sense.
